Help & FAQ
Stamps from your photos
How does Stamp find my trips?
Stamp reads where and when each photo was taken, on your iPhone. Photos that still have their original place and date become verified trips.
Why is a trip missing?
Only photos taken with a camera that saved the location count. Screenshots, shared albums, photos saved from other apps and photos whose place or date was edited are skipped. With Selected access, Stamp sees only the photos you chose.
Do photos stored only in iCloud count?
Yes. On Wi-Fi, Stamp downloads a few from each day from your iCloud to check them. On mobile data, it asks first.
How do I scan my photos again?
Go to Settings › Photos and tap Scan my photos again. New photos are picked up each time you open Stamp.
Can I add a trip myself?
Yes. Tap + on the Passport tab and choose Add a trip, or tap + on a stamp's page. Exact dates, a month or just a year all work.
What's the difference between verified and memory trips?
Verified trips come from your photos or your location, so only their town can change. Memory trips are ones you added: you can edit or delete them, and their postmark is fainter.
What happens if I delete a photo?
Memory trips you added always stay, and moving to a new iPhone or restoring a backup doesn't remove anything from your passport.
How do I set my home country?
Go to Settings › Home country. Your home stamp gets a wax seal, and it counts in your totals only with Count home in my totals on.
Arrivals and location
How do arrival notifications work?
When you arrive in a country that's new to your passport, Stamp welcomes you and your stamp is waiting. Turn them on in Settings › Notifications.
Should I choose Always or While Using?
With While Using, Stamp collects stamps only while it's open. With Always, it collects them while it's closed too. Your location never leaves your iPhone.
Why didn't I get a stamp near a border?
With Precise Location off, Stamp waits until it's sure which country you're in, so close to a border it may not count.
What is the Live Activity while abroad?
With a home country set, your day count and the time at home show on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while you're away. Turn it off in Settings › Notifications.
Why does the Live Activity stop and start again?
iOS ends every Live Activity after about 8 hours and lets an app start one only while it's open. Open Stamp and it starts again.
The passport and map
What do the silver and gold edges mean?
They show rarity, from how many tourists visit each year: silver foil is rare, gold very rare. A stamp's page shows its rarity as four dots.
What is the ribbon on some stamps?
It marks a place on your wishlist. On a stamp's page, tap ••• and choose Add to Wishlist; with a date, a tag counts down the days.
Why is a new stamp covered in silver?
New stamps arrive under silver, like a scratch card. Open the stamp and rub it off with your finger, or tap Reveal with VoiceOver or Reduce Motion on.
What is the wax seal?
It marks your home country's stamp.
How are continents counted?
Each place belongs to one of seven continents, Antarctica included. The Continents card on the Passport tab shows each one; tap it to see its stamps.
How do I find a place on the map?
On its stamp's page, tap ••• and choose Show on Map. The map flies there and outlines it, even if you haven't been.
Where does a stamp's About text come from?
From Wikipedia, in your language when there's an article, under CC BY-SA 4.0. The link under it opens the full article.
Medals
How do I earn medals?
Your trips earn them: countries and continents, rare places, seasons, regions and journeys. Most have bronze, silver and gold. Tap Medals at the top of the Stamps tab.
What are the secret medals?
They show as a question mark with a hint until you earn them.
Why is a medal dated in the past?
A medal is dated the travel day you earned it, not the day Stamp noticed. A trip added later can earn a medal on an old date.
Why does a medal ask for my home country?
Distance medals measure from home, so they wait until you set it in Settings › Home country.
Postcards and sharing
How do I send a postcard?
On a stamp you've collected, tap ••• and choose Send a postcard. Pick a style and a picture, write a note, then tap Share: Messages and Mail get both sides, other apps a story picture.
Friends
Why do I sign in for Friends?
Postcards to friends travel through our server, so Friends needs an account. Everything else works without one, and your passport stays on your iPhone.
How do I add a friend?
In the Friends tab, tap Add a Friend and share your invite link, or let them scan its QR code with the Camera. An invite works 5 times in 7 days.
How do I accept an invite?
Tap the link a friend sent you and choose Accept. Or paste it in Friends › Add a Friend under Have an invite?
How do I send a postcard to a friend?
Make a postcard from a stamp's ••• menu, then tap the paper plane. Pick your friends and record a voice note of up to a minute if you like.
How do I report or block someone?
Open their postcard and tap •••, or tap their name in Friends, then choose Report or Block. They aren't told, and blocked people can't send you anything.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings › Account, tap Delete Account and confirm. Your profile, your friends, and every postcard and voice note are permanently removed from Stamp's servers at once. Your passport stays on your iPhone.
Your data and privacy
Where is my passport kept?
Only on this iPhone, and your photos and location never leave it. Friends has an account, which holds only your name, your email from Apple or Google (so we can contact you about your account or a report; friends never see it), your picture, your friends and the postcards you send.
Are my photos uploaded?
Never. Stamp checks them on your iPhone and keeps only the place and the day. The only picture that leaves it is a postcard you send to a friend.
How do I export or delete my data?
In Settings, Export my passport saves your trips, wishlist and settings as a file. Delete all my data removes everything from Stamp; your photos stay in Photos.
Can I lock Stamp with Face ID?
Yes. In Settings, turn on Lock with Face ID (Touch ID on some devices). Stamp then asks each time you come back to it, and before exporting or deleting your data.
What happens if I delete the app?
Your passport doesn't sync yet, so deleting Stamp deletes it from this iPhone. Export it first to keep a copy.
Stamp Pro
How do I restore my purchase?
Tap the Stamp Pro card in Settings, then Restore Purchases. Use the Apple Account you bought it with.
How do I change or cancel my subscription?
In Settings › Stamp Pro, tap Manage Subscription. You can also do it in the Settings app: tap your name, then Subscriptions.
Can I share Stamp Pro with my family?
No, Family Sharing isn't available for Stamp Pro. Each person subscribes with their own Apple Account.
